Intention: Cultivate kindness toward yourself and others.
Duration: 15 minutes.
- Sit in a quiet place: Place your hands over your heart.
- Focus on your breath: Inhale positive thoughts and peace; exhale stress and negativity.
- Repeat affirmations: Silently say, “May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be at peace.” Allow yourself to truly feel is affirmation, sit straight, chest out...and do it with a smile on your face.
- Extend compassion: Picture someone you care about and repeat the affirmations for them. Gradually expand this to acquaintances, then all beings.
- Feel the warmth: Pull this feeling of compassion into your heart center, feel the warmth, feel the love and let it grow until it fills you entire body
- Just Breathe: Before ending the session take one last long deep breathe and then carry this feeling with you all day.
Remember: Meditation is not a one-time thing. It’s a practice that grows and deepens with time. Repeat this practice often, and don’t be afraid to experiment or adapt it to suit your needs. If you have suggestions for a meditation you’d like to see, I’d love to hear from you!
And always, in moments of doubt or stillness, JUST BREATHE!
